The Role: Bioimaging Innovation Manager
The Bioimaging Innovation Manager drives the execution of Nanolive’s innovation roadmap and ensures operational excellence within the R&D organization.
Reporting directly to the CEO and works in close alignment with the extended leadership team of Nanolive, this role bridges scientific research, applied AI, and microscopy-based product innovation, translating strategic priorities into tangible results.
The role ensures that R&D activities are well-structured, documented, and aligned with company objectives, contributing directly to Nanolive’s mission to transform live-cell imaging through quantitative holotomography and AI.

Key Responsibilities

1. R&D Operations

  • Lead day-to-day R&D and innovation projects (AI, assays, microscopy).
  • Define objectives, deliverables, and review milestones for each team member.
  • Ensure robust documentation, data management, and traceability.
  • Maintain effective collaboration with Service and Applications to ensure operational continuity.

2. Innovation Leadership

  • Manage and evolve the 3-year innovation roadmap, from idea to proof-of-concept.
  • Evaluate and document new AI-driven assay or imaging opportunities.
  • Coordinate feasibility studies and early-stage validations with internal teams and external partners.
  • Report progress and recommendations to management with clarity and structure.
  • Ensure strong alignment between innovation efforts and product roadmap, working closely with Commercial team, Applications, and Customer Success.
  • Coordinate joint development projects with external partners including biotech companies, pharmaceutical firms, CROs, and other strategic collaborators.

3. Team & Capability Development

  • Coordinate and support a team of seven interdisciplinary scientists and engineers (AI, microscopy, and biology), some of whom operate independently. Provide structure, project leadership, and scientific guidance. Provide structure, priorities, and professional guidance.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Align R&D activities with Nanolive’s product and business roadmap.

Your Background

  • MSc or PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Data Science, or related field, ideally with exposure to microscopy or imaging-based biology.
  • 5–10 years of professional experience in AI / imaging / biotech / medtech R&D within a fast-paced or scaling company.
  • Proven success managing interdisciplinary technical teams and delivering innovation projects from concept to validation.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to synthesize feedback into strategic recommendations
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus
  • Valid Swiss work permit
